The Martins

Prof. Dr. P. Martin Deva Prasath and his wife Sastriar Sarah Martin belong to the Church of South India and are residing at Kotagiri in the Nilgris District in Tamil Nadu. Martin served as a Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry for 27 years in a Christian College at Tranquebar and Sarah also served as Assistant Professor of English in the same institution for 17 years. They are together in the Lord’s ministry since 1992. Martin and Sarah gave in their voluntary resignation with the purpose of serving the Lord full time.

Sastriar Sarah Martin hails from a traditional family that has contributed immensely to the Tamil Christian Church Music. She was ordained as ‘Sastriar’ on 15th December 1995 and belongs to the 7th generation of the first Venerable Vedanayaga Sastriar of Tirunelveli (1774). In her lineage she is the second lady ‘Sastriar’ after Sastriar Mrs. D. Gnanadeepam (1811-1870).

On invitations from churches of various denominations, the Martins have ministered the Lord in India and abroad. Until now they have released 6 Audio CD albums and 4 DVDs and an MP3 that include the enduring songs of Sastriar and a few inspiring sermons. They have authored a book titled, “Wait on the Lord” while its Tamil translation “Kartharukku Kaathirru” won the recognition of the Government of Tamil Nadu and has been placed in all the public libraries of the state in the year 2004. Their second book “Bible Word Search Puzzle” both in English and Tamil was released in the year 2015. Their third book “Thadai Karkkal allae Padee Karkkal” and its English translation “Blocks Become Bridges” will be published before long.
